The student branch of KMCT CE had the privilege of being under the guidance of Prof. Ranjith C, who had been selected as the ‘Global Outstanding Branch Counselor and Advisor’ in the year 2012 for all his diligent work
Presently there are over 60 IEEE student members in our college. As part of National Science Week celebration, several programs were hosted in and around the college campus, organizing various events and ensuring participation of most of the volunteers in IEEE SB and Non-IEEE students as well. The theme for the week was ‘INDUSTRY 4.0’. Fun-filled, interactive and informative sessions like Photography Contest, Science Quiz, Essay Writing Competition, Screening of ‘Metatron’, a Science Fiction Movie etc. made the week very eventful and outstanding. The International Women’s day was also celebrated in association with the Women’s Cell of KMCTCE with much hue and color. The Events included an interactive talk on Cyber Security handled by Mr. Sathian Karayad, S.I of Police, Cyber Cell, Kozhikode Rural in the forenoon session and an inspiring and motivational speech on social Entrepreneurship by Mrs. Anjali Chandran, founder of Impressa Boutique in the afternoon session. The cultural events by the students made the day momentous and fun-filled. A few of the planned upcoming events included a KSEB Seminar competition, Karma’20 workshops and various other informative talk shows that had to be postponed indefinitely due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdown thereafter. But even during such an uneventful time, a few online competitions was organized through the Facebook and Instagram pages of IEEE and a webinar series also have been planned during this tough time of which the first webinar on ‘Development of Embedded Medical Device with Machine learning for Seizure Prediction’ by Dr. Mohammed Shakir, Senior Data Scientist, Ted speaker and Internationally invited speaker was conducted virtually and was well received by the participants from India and abroad. We had 60+ participants for this session making it a grand success. We have a few more webinars planned to be conducted in the coming days. With this high-spirited and energetic team, the IEEE SB of KMCT CE is bound to leap to new heights and create a new and vivid horizon
